How do I get a qualified electrician to install my smoke alarm?
We want to ensure that everything we sell is accessible to as many people as possible, which is why we also offer an electrician service alongside some of our products.
Hear For Less are proud to partner with Platinum Electricians to offer exclusive, top quality, and professional electrical installation service, installing smoke alarms and carbon monoxide solutions for the hard of hearing/deaf community Australia-wide.
This is easy to do and can be purchased alongside your chosen smoke alarm or carbon monoxide bundle.
Are you self-funded? Or are you facilitating these alterations through the fantastic NDIS scheme? Either way, our end-to-end solution will ensure that you have the right products for you installed professionally. Moreover, Platinum Electricians will be able to test and service your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms annually, maintaining their upkeep (fees apply).
It is worth noting that this solution is only valid through our exclusive partnership with Platinum Electricians, providing expert care without the premium price tag.
Before you have a smoke alarm installed, we must ask some crucial questions to allow us to perfect our service upon callout to your property and provide you with maximum security. These include:
N.B:If you choose to proceed with this professional installation, holes will be drilled, and wires run/connected. We will assume that you are either the property owner or have the necessary agreement in place with your landlord that this work can be conducted.
Unfortunately, due to the warranty and integrity of the quality solutions we provide, temporary fixtures such as using adhesives, glues or any other materials not mentioned in the products installation guide are deemed outside of our installation scope and we cannot provide any installation of those products.
There are no refunds for the work carried out and cancellation fees apply.
Our qualified electricians will need to understand your unique set-up and ensure safety for the items that will need to be installed. The quote will take into account many factors, such as wiring, grounding, RCA's, fuse box and so on.
Whist we have this listed as free, the quote for any electrical work is payable as per the quote.
N.B:There is also a mileage cost associated with travel over 30kms which is chargeable and will be quoted for separately.
Quotes will need to be adjusted if you have any of the following:
Please let us know if you have any of the above exclusions beforehand, so we can adjust your electrical installations bill accordingly.
Once we understand more about your housing situation and the products you're looking to have installed then we will provide you with a full quote.

We’ve all been in that situation where a tradesperson is at your property, and all of a sudden you remember an electrical item needs fixing, repairing or installing. Any such request sits outside the scope of what was originally discussed and will come down to two factors:
All costs associated with any ‘out-of-scope’ installations will be payable by you directly to the Platinum qualified Electrician on site whilst the technician is on your premises.
Read and understand your State’s fire safety requirements (detailed below) and purchase your products. We are happy to assist you with this step, should you need a hand - simply email your questions to save@hearforless.com.au and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
Once your products have arrived safely at your premises, please double-check to ensure everything you have ordered is in the parcel. This is very important as if your electrician turns up and doesn’t have everything they expect, the installation will not be able to take place.
Once you have confirmed with us that all is in order, the installation will be booked with Platinum Electricians and a schedule will be agreed upon.
We understand that life often gets in the way, and can disturb your plans. Luckily for you, Hear For Less has a cancellation policy to protect you and our electricians.
Should you cancel within 48 hours of the agreed appointment, or are unavailable when a Platinum qualified electrician arrives at the agreed time and date, then up to the entire fee quoted will be deducted from your upfront costs due to loss of original business, regardless of circumstances (this also includes if the landlord has not granted you permission).
Our Electricians wish you to make this installation a priority and ensure a homeowner or decision-maker is present on the day to allow full access to the property and must also know that the installation will be taking place. If they are not, then they cannot give adequate permission for the work to take place.
It is imperative that you contact our Qualified Electricians directly and immediately if your circumstances change and you need to rebook. They are very understanding when it comes to rescheduling, but we advise you to contact them sooner rather than later.
If your home was built before 1990, chances are it might have Asbestos in the ceiling or other parts of your home. You are to notify us immediately before booking any installations so that a plan can be put in place. If an installation is booked and Asbestos is found, then the installer has the right to leave the premises and charge for their time, which can be up to $197.00 (including GST).
