Are you hard of hearing and are concerned about how you will be able to notice an alarm in the event of a fire? Well, there is no longer any need to worry, as a top of the range Brooks smoke alarm has you covered!
Founded in 1959, Brooks are considered a world leader when it comes to total fire solutions, and their 60+ years as a company pays testament to their ability to adapt to fire devices that help support the hard of hearing. They won the contract to install various solutions throughout the Sydney Opera House in 1969 and have not looked back since.
Brooks have provided the latest in fire alarm and carbon monoxide technology, so you can rest assured that you will get the alerts you need to stay safe, Now, with Brooks new SmartLink technology, technicians can easily test your fire alarm and carbon monoxide systems efficiently to ensure proper use.
Only working smoke alarms save lives, but what about those who are deaf or hard of hearing? They cannot depend on the sound of a regular alarm to alert them, so need an effective alternative. Brooks fire alarms are specifically designed for this group.
At Hear For Less, we have done the hard work and carefully bundled all of the Brooks devices together, ensuring they can talk to each other. Whether you have a 2 story house or a smaller property, the installer only needs to make sure that each device is in range upon setup.
So, how exactly do Brooks smoke alarms work?
In the event of a fire, as well as sounding an audible warning, the alarm will activate a high-intensity strobe light and a vibrating pad located beneath the sleeper’s pillow, quickly alerting them of the danger. This can be interconnected with conventional audible alarms in different locations within the home. If one alarm senses smoke, all alarms will sound, the strobe will flash, and the vibrating pad will vibrate.
The system can be used with photoelectric alarms, utilising Brooks’ high-quality detection technology. Up to 11 other devices may be interconnected, along with the aforementioned strobe lights to offer a complete warning system throughout the property.
Hear For Less offers the full suite of both hardwired smoke and Brooks carbon monoxide alarms as well as 10 year battery operated devices.
Smoke alarms are covered under the NDIS for the deaf or hard of hearing community. For more information regarding the NDIS scheme and how it can benefit you, check out our blog post.
