Should I Get A Tablet Or An iPad?

The best way to answer this question is to ask you this question. What smartphone device do you already have?

If you currently have an Android device such as a Samsung, Sony. OPPO etc then a Tablet is the best way forwards, however, if you have an Apple iPhone then an iPad would be best suited.

Which Models Are Available To Me?

The Android Tablet market is fast moving and there are many different models out there. Because of this we have decided not to list the models here, however, due to the relationships we have built with the main distribution companies around Australia, this means that we have access to weekly deals on the latest Android Tablets. This means that we will get you the best deal available with a fast turnaround time. 

How Do I Know If I Am Eligible?

Tablets are not for everybody, so first you must be an NDIS Participant.

Next, you will need to work with support coordinator, who will assist you to create a plan through the NDIS subject to your individual circumstances. 

What Category Do Anroid Tablets Fall Under In The NDIS?

Tablets or iPads fall under the category of Assistive Technology.

Assistive Technology (AT) provides the support a person with a disability might use to reach their potential at home, in the community and the workplace within reason.

The process you will follow to access AT in your NDIS plan will depend on:

• Your specific AT needs
• How complex your AT needs are
• How you manage your AT budget.

Are There Limitations?

Yes, the NDIS has set about certain restrictions in order for NDIS Participants to achieve their basic goals. i.e Android Tablets are not meant to be purchased for the likes of gaming, watching movies and so on.

In the case of Android Tablets for telehealth and care or participating in online video classes, advice from AT specialists is that most NDIS participants will not need more than a standard tablet, which costs no more than $600. This budget can be stretched up to $750.

Both require a support letter, however, the higher budget must include a detailed letter from a health professional as the increased requirement.
