Rechargeable hearing aids from Hansaton come with a charging station and contain lithium-ion batteries, which are designed to last for the life of the hearing aid. When you first receive your product, it’s recommended to charge the hearing aids for 3 hours before use. You should store them in the charging ports overnight, and charge them whenever you hear a ‘low battery’ warning sound.
To set up the charging base, plug it in to a power outlet using the USB adapter provided. It will turn on automatically, indicated by a green light, as there isn’t an on/off switch. You can then insert your Hansaton hearing aids into the charging slots, making sure that the left/blue and right/red markings match up. The light will blink until they’re fully charged, which can take up to 3 hours from empty.
Pay attention to the light status, as a red light means they aren’t connected or charging. A blinking red light means there’s less than 10% of battery power left. The light should be blinking green while they charge, then turn to solid green when charging is complete. Hearing aids turn off automatically when placed in the active charging base, though you can turn them off manually and store them in the charging station when it’s unplugged.
Yes! All Hansaton aids come with Bluetooth connectivity as standard, meaning that you should be able to connect them to any Bluetooth-enabled phone. This allows you to make and accept phone calls directly through your Hansaton hearing aids. The user manual that comes with your hearing aids will explain how to do this in detail, but we’ll give you a quick rundown here.
Connecting your hearing aids to your mobile phone is as easy as 4 simple steps. First, make sure that Bluetooth is on in your phone settings. Then switch on your hearing aids – they’ll stay in pairing mode for up to 3 minutes. Next, search for Bluetooth-enabled devices in your phone’s Bluetooth settings. Finally, select your hearing aids from the list to pair both simultaneously.
When the connection is complete, you’ll hear a short melody. You’ll only need to pair the devices once – they’ll connect automatically whenever both devices are turned on and within range. It can take up to 2 minutes for them to connect each time, and they must be within 10 metres (30 feet) of each other for the connection to work.
When hearing aids spend hours in your ear canal every day, they’re exposed to moisture and earwax. To ensure that these conditions don’t hamper the performance of your hearing aids, it’s important to take care of them properly. This includes regular cleaning, even if it’s just wiping them down with a soft cloth every evening.
Though Hansaton hearing aids are water-resistant, they aren’t waterproof, nor are they heat-proof. This means that you should never use water or alcohol products to clean them, and avoid extreme temperatures. Your product should come with a cleaning brush to help remove any earwax build-up from the microphone ports – never use sharp tools to do this. You can find more information on safe ways to clean your specific hearing aids in the user manual.
If you’d prefer the latest cleaning technology for hearing aids, Hansaton does produce their own Hadeo range of cleaning products. This includes the Dry Mini UV, available from Hear for Less, which is a pocket-size electronic drying station. Compatible with all Hansaton hearing aids, the UVC radiation can eliminate up to 99.99% of germs and bacteria.
