Which Brands Do You Provide?

Hear for Less will only provide you with main brands such as HP, DELL, ASUS, ACER, Lenovo due to their popularity, quality of solution and ease of use. 

Which budget are you looking to apply for $600 or $750?

$600 budget typically gets you 14" Windows, 128GB Storage + 4GB RAM

$750 budget typically gets you 15.6" Windows, 256GB Storage + 8GB RAM, s a larger screen which is better for Auslan, lipreading and those with poor vision. These laptops also have more storage and run / load faster with 8GB RAM.

IMPORTANT: Only one tablet / laptop per NDIS participant*

Because of physical  / social distancing the NDIS has explored innovative ways providers including Allied Health professionals are continuing to deliver services to participants – some of these are online.

As such, the NDIS is allowing for NDIS Participant the ability to acquire Laptops for specific purposes.

I'm An NDIS Participant And Require A Laptop.

Regardless of whether you are Self, Plan or Agency Managed, Hear for Less has sourced and provided hundreds of laptops to those who require them for either Tele-Audiology or Telehealth purposes.

N.B: Please note that you can only choose one device per NDIS participant number

Can I Get An Apple Laptop?

Yes, however Apple Laptops are far more expensive and would therefore require a considerable amount 'self-funded' input in order to obtain. We have had a number of NDIS participants who have opted for this and are happy with the outcome. 

How Do I Know If I Am Eligible?

Laptops are not for everybody, so first you must be an NDIS Participant.

Next, you will need to work with your Local Area Coordinator (LAC), who will assist you to create a plan through the NDIS subject to your individual circumstances. 

What Category Do Laptops Fall Under In The NDIS?

Laptops fall under the category of Assistive Technology.

Assistive Technology (AT) provides the support a person with a disability might use to reach their potential at home, in the community and the workplace within reason.

The process you will follow to access AT in your NDIS plan will depend on:

  • Your specific AT needs
  • How complex your AT needs are
  • How you manage your AT budget.

Are There Limitations?

Yes, the NDIS has set about certain restrictions in order for NDIS Participants to achieve their basic goals. i.e Laptops are not meant to be purchased for the likes of gaming, watching movies, and so on.

In the case of computer tablets or iPads for telehealth and care or participating in online video classes, advice from AT specialists is that most NDIS participants will not need more than a standard tablet, which costs no more than $600. 

This budget can be stretched up to $750, however, must include a details letter from a health professional as the increased requirement.
